Developers have submitted a planning application for a further 2,700 houses on open Green Space around Murton.

For the first time since 2004, this May every Councillor in North Tyneside is up for election on the same day. This means there is a real possibility that the Council might change hands - ending over a decade of Labour rule here.

Local Conservatives have promised to introduce a new Local Plan, forcing developers to prioritise brownfield sites instead of around Murton village.
