We, the undersigned, object to North Tyneside Council’s draft Local Plan proposals that would release Green Belt land for large-scale housing development.

Green Belt land exists to protect our communities from urban sprawl, preserve local green spaces, and safeguard residents’ quality of life. These proposals would permanently damage valued countryside, place further strain on roads, schools, GP surgeries and hospitals, and fundamentally change the character of our towns and villages.

We call on North Tyneside Council to rethink its Local Plan, rule out development on Green Belt land, and prioritise brownfield sites and existing urban areas instead.
